Well, I survived my first day at FPP Design Ltd... Yey!
I wasn't there long before I was briefed on a job that had come in at 9 am and had to be sent back to the client at 5 pm. The client being Procter & Gamble. No pressure. It wasn't an overly complicated job but I felt a little thrust in at the deep end and a little bit of pressure not to make myself look incapable. I had to re-design a 7 paged document for 'Rock Hard Team' - The sound of male grooming. (It wasn't quite as homosexual as I first suspected! Joke.) There had to be distinct influences of rock, classic rock or metal in the type, pattern, layout and colour pallet. I was left to my own devices and given a brand new marker pad and a couple of pens and had to draw as much as I could and collect as much imagery as possible from istock or other sources. (In just an hour might I add.) After my hour to produce something the creative director that's looking after me came to look at the concepts I had developed. He liked my illustrations, visualisations and two main concepts in particular. After talking through my concepts with another creative they agreed to develop my designs and brought in another designer to do one of them and left me to do the other. At the end of the day we reviewed the final designs and both of our designs got sent off to Procter & Gamble. Sooo, I guess I just need to wait until tomorrow now to see what the outcome is. Be pretty cool if it gets used!
This is the man who is looking after me and who I have been mainly working with today...
And this is the designer they brought in to produce one of my design concepts...
This is a quick low down on P&G...
"Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G, NYSE: PG) is a Fortune 500, American multinational corporation headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, that manufactures a wide range of consumer goods. As of 2008, P&G is the 8th largest corporation in the world by market capitalization and 14th largest US company by profit. It is 10th in Fortune's Most Admired Companies list (as of 2007).[2][3] P&G is credited with many business innovations including brand management and the soap opera."
